Speaker Abbas Meets Qatari Ambassador to Strengthen Parliamentary Ties

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, on Monday received the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nigeria, Yusuf Ahmed Mohammed Al-Hail, at the National Assembly in Abuja to discuss closer cooperation between both countries’ legislatures.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Nigeria, Abbas Tajudeen, hosted Qatar’s ambassador, Yusuf Ahmed Mohammed Al-Hail, at the National Assembly, Abuja, in a meeting focused on strengthening parliamentary relations between Nigeria and Qatar.

The discussions centred on deepening bilateral ties through greater engagement between both legislatures. Speaker Abbas stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation, noting that strong parliamentary links can support diplomacy, economic growth and mutual understanding.

Both sides explored opportunities for legislative exchanges and institutional partnerships, as well as areas of economic collaboration that could benefit citizens of both countries. The Speaker said the National Assembly remains committed to playing an active role in supporting Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.

As part of efforts to advance the relationship, Abbas announced plans to undertake an official visit to Qatar in the second quarter of the year. The visit is expected to further strengthen ties and open up new areas of cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting ended with a shared commitment to sustained engagement and practical collaboration.
