Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, on Monday led members of the House to an Iftar dinner hosted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, where discussions focused on national unity and proposed constitutional changes on state policing.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Nigeria, Abbas Tajudeen, led lawmakers to break the Ramadan fast with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

The dinner brought together Muslim and Christian members of the House in a show of solidarity during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.

During the gathering, President Tinubu called on the National Assembly to consider constitutional amendments that would provide a legal framework for the creation of state police. He said the move is part of wider efforts to improve security across the country, with clear measures to prevent abuse.

Speaker Abbas reaffirmed the House’s readiness to work with the executive on key reforms. He stressed the importance of cooperation between the National Assembly and the presidency in addressing national challenges and advancing policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
