Senator Oseni decries PDP for breach of security, urges constituents to be conscious

With few days to Kogi State gubernatorial election, the Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Yakubu Oseni has called on the people to be cautious of the antics of the main opposition party to foment troubles in order to discredit the electoral process.

The lawmaker said this in Lokoja while reacting to the recent arrest and subsequent parade of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Security Chief, ACP Suleiman Ejeh Abutu (rtd) and six others for illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.

Senator Oseni who described the palpable desperation of the opposition as highly appalling, lamented that the PDP obviously aware of it impending defeat seemed to be bent on throwing the state into chaotic mood.

“We ought to have matured beyond this desperation. Governor Yahaya Bello since inception of his administration has worked for peace, this is evident in heavy expenditure to maintain the security architecture in the state. Why should a party seeking for gubernatorial mandate engage in firearms proliferation ahead of election? “, the lawmaker queried angrily.

He further accused the PDP of deliberate attempt to scare voters from performing their civic responsibility of voting Governor Yahaya Bello and his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja who he said have secured endorsement of the people through their sterling performance in the last four years.

“Let your campaigns be issue-based with facts and figures; this is the workable and winning strategy adopted by our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is democracy and you cannot get people’s mandate through the barrel of guns. Guns and Permanent Voters’ Card (PVCs) are two different tools for seeking political mandate. Why are they importing thugs empowered with guns to disrupt the peace of the people you claim to love?”, he asked rhetorically.
