Senate Leaders, Lawmakers Mark Joint Birthday Celebration in Abuja
The Nigerian Senate set aside legislative business briefly as its leadership and members came together to celebrate senators born in December and January, turning the chamber into a scene of fellowship and goodwill.

The event was led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, a December celebrant, alongside Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and several senior lawmakers, including Senator Prince Ned Nwoko and Senator Aminu Tambuwal. The gathering brought together senators across party lines in a relaxed atmosphere marked by camaraderie.
Among those celebrated was Senator Ned Nwoko, who recently marked his 65th birthday, alongside other colleagues whose birthdays fall at the start and end of the year. The occasion offered lawmakers an opportunity to interact outside the usual intensity of parliamentary debates.
The celebration highlighted the personal relationships that underpin legislative cooperation in the 10th Senate, as members shared moments of reflection and appreciation for one another.
Speaking on behalf of the celebrants, senators expressed gratitude to their colleagues for the show of goodwill, noting that such moments encourage unity and renewed commitment to public service. They described the gathering as a reminder of the shared responsibility entrusted to them as national representatives.
Beyond the festivities, lawmakers emphasized the importance of mutual respect and cooperation in sustaining a productive legislature, particularly as the Senate prepares for key tasks in the new legislative year.
The celebrants concluded by thanking the National Assembly community for the gesture, expressing hope that the spirit of unity displayed would strengthen collaboration in the months ahead.
