The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election in Rivers State.
Chinda was declared winner of the party’s governorship primary held in Port Harcourt on Thursday after other aspirants reportedly withdrew from the race ahead of the exercise.
The APC primary committee announced his emergence at the party’s secretariat following the completion of the primary process across the state.
Chinda, who represents Obio Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is considered one of the prominent political figures in Rivers State and his emergence is expected to further reshape political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His emergence has continued to generate reactions within political circles as parties begin early preparations for the next governorship contest in the oil rich state.
