NASC INAUGURATES ANTI-CORRUPTION UNIT TO ENHANCE INSTITUTIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) on April, 30th Thursday 2026 inaugurated its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) to strengthen ethical standards and institutional integrity.
Speaking at the inauguration and induction ceremony, NASC Executive Chairman Dr. Saviour Enyiekere, PhD, stated that the unit is a strategic instrument designed to align the Commission workforce with the principles of transparency and democratic governance.
The initiative, held in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), formalizes the Commission internal mechanisms for preventing administrative corruption.
The representative of the ICPC Chairman, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, urged the new unit to prioritize compliance and the development of a robust code of ethics, emphasizing the Commission vital role in supporting the legislature.
Outgoing ACTU Chairman, Mr. Festus Ajiboye, further charged the inductees to utilize the Integrity and Compliance Scorecard to exceed existing performance benchmarks.
The session included the formal administration of the Oath of Allegiance and the presentation of operational manuals to guide the unit mandated activities.
Accepting the leadership mantle, Barr. Eziene Uko noted her historic appointment as the Commission first female ACTU Chairperson and pledged to execute her duties with diligence and courage.
Barr. Ezeine emphasized a focus on proactive prevention, sensitization, and system strengthening to ensure ethical standards are practiced at all levels.
Barr. Uko reaffirmed the unit commitment to working with management to protect institutional credibility and uphold the public trust within the National Assembly Service.
