House Sets Up Conference Committee on Electoral Act Amendment Bill
The House of Representatives has constituted a Conference Committee to harmonise differences between the versions of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.

The decision follows standard legislative procedure and was conveyed in an internal correspondence dated February 4, 2026, from the Clerk to the House of Representatives, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria.
According to the communication, the committee was constituted at the instance of the House leadership and is made up of members drawn across party lines.
The committee is chaired by Rep. Adebayo Balogun, with Rep. Fred Agbedi, Rep. Sada Soli, Rep. Ahmadu Jaha, Rep. Iduma Igariwey Enwo, Rep. Saidu Musa Abdullahi, and Rep. Dr. Zainab Gimba serving as members.
Its mandate is to engage with the Senate Conference Committee to resolve areas of disagreement in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, with the aim of producing a harmonised version for final consideration by the National Assembly.
The House of Representatives said the move underscores its commitment to electoral reforms that promote transparency, credibility, and public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.
