The Former Lawmaker, Linus Okorie representing ebonyi federal constituency and former chairman of house committee on agriculture has come out to caution the leadership of the house of Representatives over misguided statement on infectious Disease bill met on the former speaker of house of Representatives, waziri tambuwal who is now the governor of Sokoto state.
“This is a bad statement that could haunt the present House leadership beyond the immediate gains of power and attention. Resorting to personal attacks on and insinuation against a former Speaker is inelegant but labeling his providing guidance to governors as the result of his opposition to the emergence of the present House leadership is politics taken too far.
The NGF has a majority APC governors who all supported the emergence of the present House leadership and it is curious and surprising that the advise from the former Speaker would be accepted by them if it was shallow and partisan as now being alleged.
As a stakeholder in the National Assembly, I condemn any act that would deprecate the integrity of the House. At the same time, I believe that going personal against a former Speaker in the manner herein done and for reasons hereto stated have the same or even more deprecating effect. It also sows a dangerous seed for the current leadership, which will one day be former too; as any opinion contrary to that of the extant leadership would them be seen and interpreted as antagonism and bad faith.
Let us please rise above personal ego, hidden pains, vengeful pangs and crude partisanship to protect the sanctity and integrity of the legislature, while keeping Nigeria first.
