The House has mandated the committee on Basic Education and service to investigate the basis for the cut-off marks set by the NCEEB for the admission of pupils into Nigerian Unity Schools and report back to the house within four weeks for further legislative action.Hon. Randolph Iwo Oruene Brown in plenary today sponsored a motion for an investigation on the criteria for the varied cut-off-marks pegged to the admission of pupils into unity schools by the national common entrance examination board (NCEEB).The Hon. Member, Representing degema/bonny Federal Constituency Rivers State made the house note that, recently the NCEEB published the cut-off marks for admission into Unity School for the 2017/2018 academic session. The Lawmakers are concerned with the trend of putting uneven cut-off marks for students who ought to study the same courses in the future and practice the same profession, is dangerous for our already epileptic educational system as well as akin to literarily adding cyanide to our educational system, knowing that no sector will be spared from the impending disaster. The Lawmakers are also worried that if this situation is not reversed, the Nigerian educational system would have literarily shot itself in the foot, while gradually destroying all forms of possible medical aide. A predictable but inevitable death. The House unanimously resolves to mandate the committee on Basic Education and service to investigate the basis for the cut-off marks set by the NCEEB for the admission of pupils into Nigerian Unity Schools and report back to the house within four weeks for further legislative action.nassnewsng.comAdeboye Omoboye
