REPS CALL FOR URGENT NEED FOR SECURITY IN ZAMFARA STATE
The lawmakers calls on the Federal Government to provide sustainable security in Zamfara state at the plenary on wednesday. One minute of silence was observed for the souls that were lost.
The house said that an unfortunate incident happened on the 14 of February 2018 in between Birane and mashema district of Zurmi emirate in zurmi local government area of Zamfara State where about forty people were killed by unknown armed men that ambushed vehicle conveying people with their goods returning from the market.
The House notes that similar killings were reported before the house and resolution were taken to address the security challenges in Zamfara state. But the resolutions taking was not sustained thereby leaving the state to become vulnerable for the armed men to mount attack that are deadly.
The house said it is concerned that the development has negative impact on the economic well-being of the people of Zamfara.
Hon Abubakar Husaini Moriki(representative of shinkafi/Zurmi Constituency of Zamfara state) said that the killings of the people of Zamfara has become a consistent thing. He urge the Federal Government to intervene.
Hon chika in his debate said that it’s the primary duty of the Government to protect the life and property if it people. He said that this shows that there is a great collaboration in the security system. Therefore there is the need to restructure the police. He also added that state policing is the best solution to the problem.
The house calls on the Federal Government to provide special security attention in Zamfara state. The house also urge National emergency management agency (NEMA) through the house committee on NEMA to send relief materials to the affected familes.
