REPS ADDRESS THE CASES OF DEATH CAUSED BY GENERATOR FUMES IN NIGERIA.

At the plenary on Tuesday, the members of the house of reps address the cases of death caused by GENERATOR fumes IN Nigeria. The house says that there have been several reports on death caused by generator fumes which at many occasions have wiped the entire families. A case example was given on an incident that occurred at 30th June 2017 in Rumuomasi community in river state when a couple and four children were suffocated by generator fumes in their apartment this is amongst so many death that had happened.
The house is worried that despite the numerous incident of death caused by generator, the Federal Government has not taken adequate measures to totally eliminate or reduce the occurrence of the incident. The house made reference to section 14(2)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which state that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of the Government.
Reps therefore, urge the Federal Government to intensify it effort towards providing adequate power supply for Nigeria citizens in order to ensure a drastic reduction in the use of generator in Nigeria homes. And also urge the Nigeria electricity regulatory commission (NERC), the. National electricity management and services Agency (NEMSA) and electricity distribution company (DISCOs) to jointly Carry out public enlightenment campaigns on the safe use of generators.
