Osun Assembly: Speaker Urged Law-Makers to Take Advantage of Retreat
The Speaker of the Osun state House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Timothy Owoeye, on Tuesday admonished the state House Assembly lawmakers to take advantage of the organised legislative retreat (for the state lawmakers) to broaden and sharpen their legislative skills
Mr Owoeye made this call at the start of the three days legislative retreat organised for the state lawmakers, at the Royal Park Hotel , Ilesha – Osun state.
The speaker, during his opening remark urged the lawmakers not to see the retreat as tea party but opportunity to enhance their legislative skills because the people look up to to them for direction.
As it was reported earlier by the Nigeria Assembly News, The current assembly is dominated by first timer with little or no legislative experience. The retreat, is believe to enhance and awake the legislators to their constitutional power , responsibility and limitations.
Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of Osun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Oluwole Oyembamiji while declaring the retreat open said the retreat would equip the state legislators for the task ahead of them
He equally added the retreat would make them understand the rudiments of lawmaking as well as keying into the philosophy of state development with the executive.
Nigeria Assembly News reports that facilitators at the retreat tagged “Enchancing Service Delivery Through Effective Legislative Engagement”
included; Ambassador Jerry igbokwe, A legislative guru and former Honorable member from Anambra state and Mr John Otutu
