NTAC DEPLOYS 10 VOLUNTEERS TO RWANDA, CHARGES THEM TO PROJECT NIGERIA’S IMAGE
The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has deployed 10 volunteers to Rwanda for a two-year assignment, charging them to uphold Nigeria’s image through professionalism, integrity and patriotism.
The NTAC Director-General/CEO, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, gave the charge during the volunteers’ orientation and pre-deployment programme in Abuja.
“You are going there as Nigeria. Not just as a Nigerian, but as Nigeria. Whatever you do there, they are seeing Nigeria,” he told the volunteers.
Buba Yakub said the volunteers were selected to fill specific manpower gaps identified by Rwanda and urged them to contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
He said NTAC, established in 1987, remained a key instrument of Nigeria’s soft-power diplomacy and South-South cooperation, noting that Nigeria had sustained the programme for 38 years.
The DG also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting NTAC and said the administration’s 4D Foreign Policy Initiative had helped reposition the Corps for greater impact.
He assured the volunteers of NTAC’s support for their welfare, while the Nigerian Embassy in Rwanda would provide diplomatic and consular assistance.
The team leader, Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, thanked NTAC for the opportunity and pledged that the volunteers would uphold Nigeria’s good image throughout their assignment.
