Malle Pushes for Legislative Quarters, Advisory Council in Meeting with Akpabio

Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Malle, PhD, has called for the return of National Assembly Legislative Quarters and the creation of an advisory council of former presiding officers to strengthen legislative operations.

Malle, a National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) commissioner representing the North East, made the proposals during a consultative visit to Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the National Assembly complex on Thursday.

He drew attention to logistical and security challenges facing lawmakers and urged the Senate President to consider the reacquisition and construction of legislative quarters to improve access and safety.

Beyond infrastructure, Malle highlighted two key issues before the Commission, the full activation of the Pension Board and the establishment of a Council of Former Presiding Officers. He said the proposed council would allow the 10th National Assembly to benefit from the experience of past legislative leaders in addressing national challenges.
