IMO SPEAKER HALTS ENTITLEMENTS OF PRINCIPAL OFFICERS

The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Acho Ihim, yesterday ordered that all financial entitlements of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) principal officers with the exception of the Minority Leader, Ken Agbim, be stopped. He cited paucity of funds for the action.

The speaker of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-dominated chamber said: “Due to paucity of funds at the Imo House of Assembly, we reduce the recognition in financial terms of all principal officers of the minority party. Henceforth, only the Minority Leader will be recognised.”

He also dissolved all house committees and named new principal officers. The beneficiaries are Arthur Egwim (APC, Ideato North) who replaced Marcel Odunze (APC, Orlu) as Chief Whip while Obinna Egu (APC, Ngor Okpala) emerged new deputy chief whip.
