The Deputy chairman, House of Representatives committee on Youth Development, Honorable Ari Abdulmumin was on Wednesday honoured by the Nigeria Assembly Newspaper.

Honorable Ari Abdulmumin bagged the prestigious NASS 2020 Award (#lockdown edition) of the newspaper as the best Education Support in Northern Nigeria.

Honourable Abdulmumin represents Nasarawa/Toto federal constituency at the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the event, the coordinator of the award, Omoboye Oluwole, noted that Honourable Abdulmumin was chosen following his giant stride in the provision of scholarship to Youths in his constituency to Nursing school.

“You supported some of your youths to study medicine abroad, which others are to follow.

“Presently, you are living up to expectation by aiming scholarship to more than 10,000 students before the end of your first tenure”.

According to Oluwole, this among others attracted the attention of the Newspaper to present the award to the lawmaker.

Abdulmumin in brief response lauded the newspaper for finding him worthy of the award, saying he owe his constituents a lot. “The best you can give to your community is to educate them” he said.

“I dedicate the award to the good people of Nasarawa/Toto federal constituency, the executive governor of Nasarawa state and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“At the inception of the scholarship award, we went to all public schools in my constituency. The criteria for the selection of beneficiaries was neither based on party affiliation, tribe nor religion.

“Education is paramount in my life. I am here today in the National Assembly by the grace of God and my constituents, they did a lot for me. This is the way to repay them back, by providing scholarship to the youths” Abdulmumin added.

The lawmaker added that he will provide scholarship to 10,000 candidates before the end of his tenure at the National Assembly.

“I have estimated 10,000 candidates, each year, I want to provide scholarship to 2,500 candidates” he said.
