Ebonyi first lady Conduct free medical outreach, Partner with AE-FETHA, UNICEF, AMCIN, WHO.

Chief Mrs MaryMaudline Ogbonna Nwifuru has given over 500 persons medical Screnning and checked.

The program was made in Izzi Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi, on Saturday 16th December, 2023.

The free medical outreach was organised by Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Foundation (BERWO), a pet project of Ebonyi Governor’s Wife, Mrs MaryMaudline Nwifuru, at Oferekpe Agbaja Primary School.

The program was organised in partnership with Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (AE-FETHA), World Health Organisation (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Fund, amongst others.

Speaking at the occasion, Nwifuru, who is the Founder of BERWO, said she was poised to providing free healthcare to indigent citizens of the state.

Chief Mrs Nwifuru who was represented by Dr Nkechinyere Echieagu , the team lead BERWO said that the intervention was in line with the spirit of the Christmas season and to step down the mandate of her pet project to provide better health for rural populace.

Dr Mrs Echieagu said she was committed to ensuring that the foundation would continue to touch the lives of the people in the state.

In introduction the Chief Medical Director of AE-FETHA, Prof. Robinson Onoh, said the exercise was designed to ensure that the passion of providing basic healthcare delivery by the governor’s wife was achieved at the grassroot.

Onoh said that his team would be providing eye, dental, general body screening, paediatrics and surgical, among other medical checks.

He said the exercise would also be carried out in the 13 LGAs of the state as the mother of the state the wife of the Governor has given them the opportunity to start the outreach .

In a remarks Princess IFESINACHI COMFORT NWEKE the Southeast zonal coordinator of Association of Micro-credit institution of Nigeria(AMCIN). Said their association has empowered over One thousand youth, farmers and the need to enable them grow their various business in their different areas .

Princess Nweke appreciated the wife of the Governor for all her effects in the state to ensure the goodness of the people of the state.

Princess Nweke equally pledge that their association will continue to gives support to the Govenernor wife and her association BERWO. TO Ensure the health living of people.

“We are also encouraging them with some items to access healthcare.

In separate remarks, the state Coordinator of WHO, Mrs Vivian Ibeako, said it would ensure that people were referred to right medical care.

Two beneficiaries, Mr slyvester Nwibo and Mrs Nwaka Nwebonyi, thanked the governor’s wife for the exercise and appealed that it should be sustained.
