MTN in realization of their corperate social responsibility has since the beginning of 2019 engage in drug prevention education and sensitization programmes across the country.
National drug law enforcement agency, NDLEA partnered with MTN Foundation in the 2019 international day against drug and illicit trafficking and anti- substance abuse which got the attention of all to a national conference with a theme, Justice for health, health for justice (working together for a drug free Nation).
The wife of the vice president, Her Excellency, Mrs Oludolapo Osinbanjo during her speech in the course of the programme revealed her passion for the teaming youths of Nigeria. She exclaimed that ‘everyone talks about the pains of the mother when a youth is on drug abuse, what about the silent pains of the father.
Chairman/Chief Executive, National drug law enforcement agency, NDLEA, Muhammad Abdullah (Rtd) in his welcome address said the agency has been in the forefront of the commemoration of international day against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking which it has used to highlight the dangers of drug used and the illegal drug trade and provide educational material to stakeholders all over Nigeria. ” We have use this day to amplify the message about the extreme cultural and economic harm the trade in drugs is still doing across the globe, he said. We equally feel emboldened by the Swift and bold political decision of Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for setting up Presidential Advisory Committee for Elimination of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking, PACEDA, headed by General Buba Marwa (Rtd).
General Buba Marwa (Rtd), the Chairman Presidential Advisory Committee for Elimination of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking, PACEDA, told nassnews correspondent after the programme that they are in parthership move with the National Assembly to get a progressive result from PACEDA.
Chairman, MTN Foundation, Prince Julius Adelusi- Adeluyi, OFR, mni said MTN in togetherness will carry out sensitization programmes in line with the theme to address the three broad issues; drug dependent persons having access to treatment they need, connecting drug prevention, social inclusion and protection, building knowledge for justice and health.
Executive Secretary of MTN Foundation, told nassnews that she became emotional when Her Excellency, Mrs Oludolapo Osinbanjo, wife of the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria unveil her passion for the teaming youth of this country.
