Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, has announced that construction on the Kano Gwarzo Dayi Road will soon resume following the approval of ₦19 billion for the project.

The announcement brings relief to residents of Kano, Gwarzo, Dayi, and surrounding communities who have endured years of poor road conditions along the route.

Senator Barau disclosed that the funding was secured after a meeting in Abuja with the Deputy Managing Director of CGC Nigeria Limited, Mr. Lv Haiming, where outstanding issues surrounding the project were resolved.

According to him, all necessary arrangements have now been concluded, paving the way for the resumption of construction work on the road, which is considered vital to movement and economic activities in the area.

He noted that the project is in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure development aimed at improving living conditions at the grassroots.

The Kano Gwarzo Dayi Road connects several towns and farming communities and plays a key role in the movement of agricultural produce, goods, and passengers to nearby markets.

Community leaders, farmers, traders, and transport operators have welcomed the development, describing it as a long overdue intervention that will ease transportation challenges and enhance safety on the route.

Residents expressed optimism that the resumption of work will reduce travel time, stimulate local businesses, and create opportunities for young people across the affected communities.
