Nigerian Professor Makes History as First Female Vice-Chancellor in The Gambia
Nigerian academic Engr. Prof. Nazmat Toyin Surajudeen-Bakinde has made history as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET) in The Gambia, following her deployment under the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) Scheme.

A Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Prof. Surajudeen-Bakinde earned the appointment after a competitive selection process, becoming the first woman to lead the institution. Her emergence highlights the quality of Nigerian professionals serving abroad through NTAC and reflects Nigeria’s growing contribution to educational development across Africa.
