TIMOTHY OWOEYE EMERGES AS FIFTH SPEAKER OF OSUN
Honorable Timothy Owoeye from Ilesha west has emerged as the speaker of the 7th Assembly in Osun. Mr Timothy Owoeye unanimously emerged speaker doing the inauguration of the assembly at the hallow chamber in Osogbo
Hon Simeon Olufemi Popola From boluwaduro state constituency also emerged as the deputy speaker of the 7th Assembly both speaker and deputy were sworn in by the clerk of the house Mr Amusan
The inauguration made Owoeye the fifth speaker of the Assembly since the creation of the state in 1991. The Speaker, Owoye inaugurated the 24 remaining lawmakers comprising 22 males and 2 female members
Other principal officers also emerged at the inaugural session they are the Majority Leader: Hon Mauruf Olarewaju – Irewole/Isokan State Constituency, Chip Whip : Hon Olatunji Olalekan – Ife North, Deputy Majority Leader: Akande Moshood Kunle – Olorunda, Deputy Chip Whip: Hon Ogunkanmi Gbenga – Ayedire ,Central Senatorial Whip : Hon Nasiru Babatunde, East Senatorial Whip : Hon Babatunde Festus Komolafe , West Senatorial Whip : Hon Babatunde John Ibirogba – Egbedore
The Speaker in his inaugural speech, titled “As the great work continues”, recounts his journey in the assembly where he started as a Minority Leader in 2007 and later became the Majority Leader from 2011 to 2019.
The Governor in his inaugural remark commended the 6th Assembly under the stewardship of Rt Hon Najeem Salam for working cordially with executive for the development of development . The Governor further pleaded with the 7th Assembly to follow suit
