SON, NAFDAC And The Rising Wave of Fake Products Within Our Country.

The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) and NAFDAC are two agencies charged with the monitoring and management of food, drugs and associated products both within and at various entry points into our country.
This responsibility enables them to checkmate the importation, production and distribution of counterfeit goods, thereby ensuring adequate protection of Nigerians from financial exploitation, health damage which sometimes results to death as a result of fake products consumption.
Bearing in mind, these vital roles of both organizations, the decision of the Federal Government to withdraw these essential service providers from our ports and borders is shocking to say the least as this decision will only expose Nigerians to grave danger.
These agencies has since existence protected us from harm, reducing the activities of fake products manufacturers and distributors within our borders, and that is why it is important that we all as a people ensure the sustainance of their activities.
As such, following the joint effort of the Federal House of Representatives under the leadership and direction of Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, SpeakerGbaja in addressing this issue, I am also charging the Federal Government to reconsider its decision, and to timely reinstate NAFDAC and SON’s activities at all entry points into our country.
This I believe is in the best interest of our people, as only a healthy nation can be productive and prosperous.
