Lauya Urges Unity, Prayer at UMC Women’s Convention in Jalingo
Hon. A. M. Lauya joined hundreds of women at the United Methodist Church Nigeria’s International Women’s Convention in Jalingo, where worshippers gathered in prayer for their families, Taraba State, and the nation. The lawmaker used the occasion to commend the women’s role in building strong homes and peaceful communities, while calling for continued support for leaders and government efforts.

Hon. Lauya and his team paid a courtesy visit to the convention held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium. The event drew women from different districts and conferences across the country for worship, thanksgiving, and prayers. He was received by church leaders and members of the women’s fellowship, who appreciated his presence and support for community and faith gatherings.
In his remarks, Hon. Lauya praised the women for their commitment to God and their dedication to raising children with strong values. He described women as the backbone of the church and the home, noting that their guidance and sacrifices contribute greatly to peace and stability in society.
He encouraged the congregation to continue praying for leaders at all levels, especially the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, stressing that leadership requires wisdom, courage, and the support of the people.
During the service, special prayers were offered for Hon. Lauya, asking for strength, wisdom, and protection in his service to the people.
After the convention, Hon. Lauya, alongside the Chairman of Ardo Kola Local Government, Hon. Umar Bello, visited Zangon Kombi in Ardo Kola Local Government Area for the opening of a mosque, where they also observed Friday Jumu’ah prayers. Speaking to residents, he urged them to continue supporting government policies and to live in peace and unity, noting that development thrives where there is harmony.
The visit ended with renewed calls for cooperation, peaceful coexistence, and progress in Taraba State and across the country.
