Cardinal Comrade Franklyn Edede has weighed in on internal tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the growing national debate over possible political alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement released Monday, Edede expressed concern over the recent involvement of Professor Pat Utomi in the ADC, describing it as a development that could threaten the party’s unity and internal balance. He cautioned party members to remain alert and committed to protecting the ADC’s founding values.
Edede alleged that Utomi’s entry into the party could introduce divisive influences capable of weakening internal cohesion, urging stakeholders to guard against actions that may derail collective goals.
Turning to national politics, he commented on the ongoing Atiku–Obi 2027 discussions, noting that talks around leadership alignment are intensifying as the next election cycle approaches. He stressed that any political strategy must prioritise national interest over personal ambition.

He also called on political leaders across the country to demonstrate accountability, transparency, and clear policy direction, arguing that effective governance depends on discipline, unity, and responsiveness to citizens.
Edede concluded by urging political parties to remain ideologically focused and resistant to internal disruption as Nigeria moves closer to 2027, a period he said will test leadership, loyalty, and vision across the political space.
