TALATA MAFARA STANDS STILL AS SENATOR YARI MOBILIZES MASSIVE SUPPORT FOR TINUBU AMIDST APC PRIMARY SWEEP

The political landscape of Zamfara State witnessed a historic surge of grassroots energy on Saturday, May 23, 2026, as the former Governor and current Senator representing Zamfara West, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, led a triumphant primary election exercise in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.
The atmosphere in Shiyar Galadima and Shiyar Kayaye wards was nothing short of electric as thousands of party faithful gathered to affirm their choice for the APC presidential ticket. The exercise, which marked the conclusion of a week-long series of successful internal elections, saw a total of 15,575 accredited voters across the two wards cast their lot in a unanimous show of force for the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Senator Yari, widely referred to as the ‘Jagora’ of Zamfara politics, presided over the process with a clear call for unity and strategic foresight. In a transparent display of internal democracy, the Senator conducted a head-to-head call for candidates, resulting in a landslide victory where Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured every single vote from the accredited members in attendance.
Shiyar Galadima Ward (Yari’s ward) delivered a staggering 10,678 votes, while Shiyar Kayaye contributed 4,897 votes, leaving the opposing candidate with no representation in either ward. The Senator hailed the successful conduct of the primaries, ranging from House of Representatives to Governorship as a testament to the resilience and loyalty of the APC family in Zamfara State since its inception in 2014.
Speaking with deep emotion as a “son of the soil” rather than just a politician, Senator Yari reminded the massive crowd of their pivotal role in the history of the APC. He recounted the early days of the party’s merger, noting that the people of Zamfara were instrumental in melting the ACN, ANPP, and CPC into what has now become the largest political party in Africa.
He paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the movement while urging the living to remain steadfast in the “Nigerian Project.” The Senator emphasized that the party’s strength lies in its ability to bring diverse interests together for the common good of the nation.
Addressing the most pressing concern of the region, Senator Yari delivered a persuasive assessment of the security situation, contrasting his tenure as Governor with the current administration’s commitment. He reflected on the immense difficulties faced between 2011 and 2019, when a lack of sufficient personnel and equipment allowed banditry to take root in small camps that have since multiplied into a thousand hideouts. He pointed out that unlike the past, the current federal government under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated a genuine concern for Zamfara’s safety by deploying thousands of soldiers, Air Force, and Navy personnel equipped with the necessary hardware to pursue terrorists within the hinterlands of the state .
The Senator’s message was one of hope and restoration, asserting that the days of terrorists roaming freely in local markets are coming to an end. He praised the current momentum of the military, noting that the government is finally providing the “right help” that was missing for years. He described the presidential candidate as a leader who understands that reclaiming the land and heritage of the people is the only way to ensure socioeconomic development.
Yari noted that, the commitment shown by Tinubu to end the displacement of villages is the primary reason why Zamfara must lead the charge in the upcoming general elections.
In a stirring finale, Senator Yari secured a resounding commitment from the thousands of supporters to deliver a historic mandate on January 16. He challenged the entire state to ensure that the presidential candidate receives the highest number of votes ever recorded for any candidate in Zamfara’s history.
