Hon. Paul Kalejaiye Raises Concern Over Rural Renewable Energy Access

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Paul Kalejaiye (PhD), has expressed concern over what he described as inadequate commitment by the relevant agency responsible for driving renewable energy access in rural communities across Nigeria.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with NASS News at his office in the National Assembly, Abuja, Hon. Kalejaiye, who serves on the Committee on Renewable Energy, emphasized the urgent need for stronger implementation strategies to ensure rural dwellers benefit from sustainable power initiatives.

According to the lawmaker, while policies and frameworks for renewable energy development exist, their impact has not been sufficiently felt in underserved communities.

“There must be deliberate commitment towards rural renewable energy access. Many communities are still struggling without stable electricity supply. Renewable energy is not optional; it is essential for development,” he stated.

Hon. Kalejaiye further stressed that improving renewable energy infrastructure would not only enhance electricity access but also reduce overdependence on petroleum resources, boost small-scale businesses, and stimulate grassroots economic growth.

Commitment to Empowerment and Development

Beyond legislative advocacy, the lawmaker highlighted several empowerment initiatives and constituency projects he has facilitated, aimed at improving the welfare of his people in Lagos State. These include youth empowerment programs, support for small business owners, and interventions in education and community development.

He reaffirmed his dedication to sustainable development, noting that renewable energy plays a vital role in economic stability and environmental protection.

Hon. Kalejaiye called on stakeholders, agencies, and private sector partners to intensify collaboration in order to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to cleaner and more accessible energy solutions.
