Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has been asked to use the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies to recover state funds and properties which former Governor Rochas Okorocha’s government allegedly looted.

The State House of Assembly made this call on Monday, asking the governor to ensure the alleged “looted funds, government properties including Government House generator which was carted away,” are all recovered.

The state House of Assembly made the call at its plenary presided over by its new Speaker, Chinedu Offor.

They also called on Ihedioha to ensure he suspends all board appointments and promotion of permanent secretaries made by Okorocha from March 2019.

The lawmakers which at the plenary, also passed a motion indefinitely suspending the 27 local government area chairmen and councilors in the state, directed the directors of all the local government administration to take over from the suspended chairmen.

The clerk of the House, Chinelo Emeghara, was subsequently directed by the lawmakers to send the resolutions to the state governor without any delay.

This is coming after the governor had earlier on Sunday given a 24-hour ultimatum to appointees of Okorocha to hand over government properties in their possession.
