Jimkuta Disburses ₦90m Ramadan Support to Muslim Communities in Taraba South
As families across Taraba South observe Ramadan amid rising food costs, Senator David S. U. Jimkuta has distributed ₦90 million to Muslim councils in four local government areas, aiming to ease the burden on households during the fasting period.

Senator Jimkuta, who represents Taraba South in the National Assembly, announced the support on Sunday. The funds were shared among Donga, Takum, Ibi and Wukari local government areas.
Donga received ₦20 million, while Takum and Ibi also received ₦20 million each. Wukari, which has a larger population, received ₦30 million.
The money is to be managed through recognized Muslim councils in each local government area. According to the senator, the goal is to ensure the assistance reaches families who need it most during Ramadan.
Many residents say the support comes at a time when food prices have made it harder for households to prepare meals for iftar. Some parents admitted that without outside help, this year’s fasting season would have been more challenging.
Community leaders welcomed the donation but stressed the need for transparency. They said widows, low income earners and other vulnerable groups should be given priority in the distribution process.
In Donga and Takum, residents noted that the intervention could reduce pressure on small traders and daily wage earners. Religious leaders in Ibi described the support as timely, while mosque committees in Wukari are expected to coordinate the distribution across different wards.
The Ramadan support follows previous empowerment programmes carried out by the senator in the zone. While some residents say long-term economic measures are still needed, many families say the immediate relief will make a difference during the holy month.
