Former Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has declared his intention to contest the presidency, choosing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his political platform.

Nwajiuba, a two term member of the House of Representatives, brings decades of public service experience into the race. A lawyer called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989, he has held key roles in both the legislative and executive arms of government, including his tenure as Minister of State for Education and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
Speaking on his decision to run, Nwajiuba said Nigeria’s current challenges require leaders who understand governance beyond campaign speeches. He emphasized the need for clear policy direction, practical problem solving, and the ability to work across institutions to deliver results for citizens.
According to him, his background in lawmaking, public finance, and national policy administration has equipped him with a broad understanding of how government works and where reforms are urgently needed. He noted that leadership should be anchored on preparation, experience, and accountability.
Education reform, economic recovery, and rebuilding public trust in government are expected to feature prominently in his campaign. Political observers say his entry on the ADC platform adds momentum to smaller parties seeking to reshape the presidential contest and present voters with alternative choices.

Nwajiuba’s declaration places him among a growing list of aspirants positioning themselves ahead of the next general election, as national discussions increasingly focus on leadership quality, competence, and inclusive governance.
