New Deputy Corps Marshals Named for South East, North East

In a move to strengthen leadership within the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has approved the appointment of two senior officers as Deputy Corps Marshals for the South East and North East zones.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, has approved the elevation of two Assistant Corps Marshals to the rank of Deputy Corps Marshal as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety administration across the country.

The officers appointed are Hyginus Omeje, currently heading the Operations Department, and Mark Sabiya, who oversees the Department of Finance and Accounts at the FRSC national headquarters.

According to the SGF, the appointments were made to place experienced and disciplined officers in key leadership positions, with the aim of strengthening road safety management and improving service delivery nationwide.

Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps described the appointments as timely and strategic, noting that they come at a critical point in the Corps’ efforts to enhance traffic safety across Nigeria.

He said both officers have built strong records over years of service, marked by professionalism, operational competence, and dedication to the Corps’ mandate. Their new roles, he added, are expected to improve command efficiency, deepen stakeholder collaboration, and support the implementation of focused road safety initiatives.

The Corps Marshal also urged the newly appointed Deputy Corps Marshals to apply their experience in tackling traffic management and road safety challenges within their respective zones.
