SPEAKER ABBAS CALLS FOR STRONGER NIGERIA-ITALY PARTNERSHIP TO END HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen PhD, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has urged Nigeria and Italy to sustain and strengthen their collaboration until the scourge of human trafficking is eradicated, describing it as “a stain on our humanity.”
Speaking after a meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Roberto Mengoni, Speaker Abbas stressed the urgent need for enhanced cooperation to combat the exploitation of women and vulnerable Nigerians.
The speaker equally reaffirmed the two countries’ shared commitment to deeper ties in education, health, energy, security, and economic development, while advancing legal pathways and opportunities for skilled Nigerians.
The Speaker noted that Nigeria and Italy enjoy a long history of friendship and must now build on this foundation to create safer societies and greater prosperity for both peoples.
