Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has facilitated the distribution of relief materials to communities in Obubra and Ikom local government areas of Cross River Central, in partnership with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The exercise, carried out on Saturday, covered Ochon Ward in Obubra LGA and Ofutop II Ward in Ikom LGA. The intervention was done in collaboration with NEMA through its zonal office.
Representing the senator at the event was his Senior Legislative Aide, Emmanuel Elemi, who led the delegation to the benefiting communities.
In Ochon Ward (Obubra LGA), items were distributed in Isabang, Ochon, Onyen Okpon and Odionget. In Ofutop II Ward (Ikom LGA), Ekukunela, Okosora and Abaragha communities benefited from the exercise.
Local stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, women and youth groups, attended the distribution. They commended the senator for extending support to communities at the grassroots.
Councillors from the affected wards and liaison officers from both local government areas were also present.
Speaking during the exercise, Elemi said the support was aimed at assisting vulnerable households facing economic hardship. He noted that similar efforts would continue across the district.
Items distributed included bags of rice and garri, wax wrappers, iodized salt, vegetable oil, tomato paste, seasoning and other household essentials. Beneficiaries expressed appreciation, describing the assistance as timely.
