Power Move in Aguata: Hon. Dominic Okafor Launches Game-Changing Federal Complex for Community Growth
In a bold stride toward youth empowerment and community development, Hon. Engr. Dominic Okafor, the honorable member representing Aguata Federal Constituency, Anambra State, has officially facilitated the construction of a state-of-the-art Skill Acquisition and Indoor Sports Multi-Purpose Complex in Obuino, Igbo-Ukwu.
The transformative project, commissioned through the National Productivity Centre, an agency under the Tinubu-led Federal Government, is set to be a game-changer. Designed to feature a skills acquisition centre, indoor badminton courts, table tennis, drafts, ludo, and two world-class standard sports arenas, the facility will not only empower youths with vocational training but also serve as a vibrant recreational hub for all members of the community.
“This project is more than concrete and steel, it’s about building lives,” said Engr. Innocent Azil, one of the project contractors, who lauded Hon. Okafor’s visionary leadership.
Strategically located on a major accessible road, the complex is expected to draw visitors from all 20 wards and 14 communities of Aguata, including Igbo-Ukwu, Ekwulobia, Ikenga, Isuofia, Umuona, Umuchu, Achina, Akpo, Ezi Ihite, and Uga.
Hon. Okafor expressed deep appreciation to Rt. Hon. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, GCON, describing him as a “people’s speaker — caring, outspoken, and God-sent.” He acknowledged the Speaker’s critical role in facilitating federal support that made the project possible through the appropriate agency.
Set for completion and commissioning in 2026, the complex stands as a beacon of hope, expected to curb youth involvement in crime, counter rural-urban migration, and rekindle a sense of pride and unity across the constituency.
“The people of Aguata deserve modern amenities,” Hon. Okafor affirmed. “We’re bringing home what others travel miles to find.”
