WE CAN’T MEET OUR PLEDGES TO OUR PEOPLE

The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Peter Azi, has appealed to the electorates to exercise patience with their representatives in the House over their inability to attract projects to their constituents in the last two years.
The Speaker made the appeal on Tuesday.
He spokes when he played host to the Pengana Youth Movement, whose members stormed the Assembly Complex on a solidarity visit to identify with the decision taken by the member representing Pengana Constituency in the House, Hon. Ezekiel Afon, to defect to the All Progressives Congress.
Azi maintained that since the eighth Assembly of the state came on board two years ago, they have never received a penny for constituency projects.
He applauded the decision of Hon. Afon for taking a bold step to abandon the the Peoples Democratic Party to join the ruling APC in the state.
He said it is a welcome development as his defection has increased the number of APC members in the House to 17.
He described Hon. Afon as a passionate legislator who is concerned about his constituents and has never shown party differences in the legislative affairs.
He called on the people of Pengana to remain peaceful and rally around him to enable him succeed.
Addressing members of the House and the youth representatives, Afon said the decision to defect to the APC was borne out of the desire to give his people the best, having realized that the PDP platform that brought him on board lacks vision to lead and has continued to engage itself in power tussles and other retrogressive tendencies.
According to him, for the past two years he has worked with the APC,  he has seen the zeal and purposeful leadership driving style of administration that hinges on taking the people of the state to the next level.
He said: “I have taken this robust and giant step as sacrificial lamb to liberate my people. I know what has has transpired and is on ground and I know what is in the offing, and I have taking this action for good of the people of Pengana.
“I have been in the PDP, but since I entered into this house as a member the Party has been in crises from national to the ward, and it is a common knowledge that no development without peace.”
Afon appealed to his supporters to remain firm, promising they will not regret the action.
