NIGERIA STRENGTHENS TECHNICAL COOPERATION WITH TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, led a delegation to Trinidad and Tobago in furtherance of Nigeria’s commitment to deepening South-South Cooperation and strengthening diplomatic ties with Caribbean nations.
The visit, undertaken on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, included engagements with officials of the Nigerian High Commission in Port of Spain and a high-level bilateral meeting hosted by the Honourable Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Trinidad and Tobago, Honourable Sean Sobers, M.P.
Discussions at the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the area of Technical Cooperation, including capacity building and the deployment of skilled Nigerian professionals under the Technical Aid Corps Scheme.
Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to expand its Technical assistance programmes, noting that the initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s vision of advancing sustainable development across the Global South.
In his response, the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Honourable Sean Sobers, M.P., committed to enhancing Technical cooperation between the two countries and extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting Africa, Caribbean and Pacific countries through Technical Support.
The delegation included the Director of Programmes, Ambassador Bello Jaye; the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Mrs. Dankaro Angye Ashumate; and the Head of Chancery, Mrs. Linda Hills.
The engagement underscores Nigeria’s continued commitment to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships and promoting sustainable development through Technical Cooperation.
