NASC Disowns Purported Legal Services Gazette

The National Assembly Service Commission has officially disclaimed a purported gazette titled “Regulations Made Pursuant to Section 19(1) of the National Assembly Service Act, 2014 for the Establishment of a Register of Lawyers Engaged in the Provision of Legal Services to the National Assembly and Other Legislatures within Nigeria (Establishment Regulations, 2025)”.

In a disclaimer dated April 29, 2026, and signed by the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Chief Saviour Enyiekere, the Commission stated that the said Gazette No. 22, Vol. 22 of December 1, 2025, was neither initiated, approved, nor authorized by the Commission.

According to the statement, the Commission and its management have no knowledge of the origin, processing, or issuance of the document. It further clarified that the regulations contained in the purported gazette do not represent the policy, decision, or directive of the Commission.

The Commission therefore urged stakeholders, institutions, and members of the public to disregard the publication in its entirety, warning that anyone relying on the contents of the gazette does so at their own risk.

The statement also revealed that steps are currently being taken to investigate the source of the publication and prevent any recurrence.

“The general public is advised to rely only on official communications duly issued and authenticated by the National Assembly Service Commission,” the statement added.

The disclaimer was issued from the Commission’s office located at Plot 664, T.O.S Benson Crescent, Off Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Way, Utako, Abuja.
