I AM PUTTING ON BLACK TO MOURN LIBYA VICTIMS OF SLAVE TRADE- SEN. GODSWILL AKPABIO

During the plenary on Tuesday Senator Godswill Akpabio declared his black outfit to plenary as an expression of mourning for the Nigerian Victims of the Libya slave trade.

The Senate Committee on Local Content has expressed fear over the likelihood of Nigeria not reaping any real benefit from its investment in a $16Billion deep sea offshore Egina oil Project being majorly undertaken by Total Upstream Nigeria Limited, TUNL, and other sub contractors.

Senator Solomon Adeola, chairman of the Committee presented the bill.

Senator Godswill Akpabio in support for the bill recounted how many Nigerian are suffering today even in Libya as slaves while our funds are mismanaged. He became deeply emotional, and that’s why=en he reminded everyone that he was wearing black to the green chambers today over the humiliation and enslavement of Nigerians in Libya today looking for better life when billions of dollars investments cannot be properly accounted for.
He said the stories we have been watching, listening to over the plight of Nigerians in Libya is painful.
He said these foreign oil companies entered deceived us into poor contracts due to lack of technology to take our destiny in our hands in oil sector . These kinds of shady contracts he said, only occurred in Nigeria not in Angola or US.
He called on Senate to commence investigations to help the country trace and block leakages and revenue needed to move our struggling economy forward.
