Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned a Christian chapel within the National Assembly complex, creating a designated place of worship for Christian lawmakers and staff.
The ceremony, held at the National Assembly in Abuja, marks the first time a Christian chapel has been established within the legislative grounds.
In her remarks, the First Lady said faith remains important in public service and expressed hope that the chapel would serve as a place where leaders can reflect and seek guidance in carrying out their duties.
The event was attended by Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, along with senators, members of the House of Representatives and other invited guests.
Speakers at the ceremony encouraged leaders to uphold values such as integrity, accountability and commitment to national unity. They said the chapel should promote reflection and moral responsibility in the work of lawmaking.
With the dedication complete, the chapel is now open for use by the Christian community within the National Assembly complex. Supporters of the initiative described it as a long awaited development that provides a formal space for worship and fellowship within the legislature.
