The legislative council of Bomadi Local Government Area has formally asked the Delta State House of Assembly to remove the council chairman, Hon. Dagidi Andaye, over allegations of forgery, financial misconduct, and abuse of office.
In an impeachment notice dated January 5, 2026 and received by the Assembly on January 7, the councillors accused Andaye of gross misconduct, including the alleged forgery of lawmakers’ signatures to obtain an ₦800 million loan from Zenith Bank without legislative approval. They also alleged reckless spending, intimidation of councillors, and interference with legislative activities.
The notice, supported by 15 of the 20 elected councillors, meets the two-thirds requirement under the Delta State Local Government Law. The lawmakers said their action was taken in line with Section 31 of the law, which allows for the removal of a chairman for misconduct or breach of oath.
Meanwhile, the Bomadi Legislative House has also impeached and suspended its former Leader, Hon. Wurukeseiye Doubra, over similar allegations of misconduct and unauthorised financial dealings. New principal officers were immediately appointed, with Hon. ThankGod Tiriki emerging as Leader of the House.
The councillors said the actions were taken to restore accountability and assured residents of their commitment to lawful and responsible governance. The Delta State House of Assembly is expected to act on the impeachment notice in line with due process.
