Fresh tension has reportedly emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following delays in the release of screening results for aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The uncertainty surrounding the exercise has sparked concern among party supporters and aspirants in several states, especially in Rivers State where political camps loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara are said to be closely watching developments within the party.

Sources within the APC reportedly disclosed that the delay in announcing screening outcomes may be connected to ongoing consultations among top party leaders, as fears of possible defections and internal disagreements continue to grow.

At the APC national secretariat in Abuja, anxiety reportedly increased after key members of the party’s leadership were absent during scheduled activities linked to the screening process.

Political observers say the situation may further deepen divisions within the ruling party as preparations for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and state assembly primaries gather momentum across the country.

Meanwhile, concerns are also rising in Ondo State over alleged movements of political thugs ahead of party primaries, with calls for peace and unity continuing from stakeholders.

In Gombe State, reports of internal disagreements linked to consensus arrangements have also intensified conversations within the APC over candidate selection ahead of 2027.

As political calculations continue nationwide, many Nigerians are now watching closely to see how the ruling party manages growing tensions before the primaries officially begin.
