KATSINA ASSEMBLY VOTES FOR 11 AMENDMENTS TO CONSTITUTION
The Katsina State House of Assembly, yesterday, okayed 11 changes to the 1999 Constitution, stepped down voting on three alterations and voted against one.
Daily Trust reports that the clauses stepped down for “wider consultations” had to do with the issues of joint account and strengthening local government administration among others.
Speaking in an interview, the Deputy Speaker, Engr. Dalhatu Tafoki, said a wider consultation was needed with regards to some of the clauses that had been stepped down.
He said the assembly needed to sit down with two key players on local government issues to reach a consensus.
