ATIKU SUPPORTS GROUP, LAUNCHES 2019 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN

The presidential ambition of former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, is gathering momentum as a group under the aegis of United Atiku Abubakar Support Group, has commenced campaign in his support ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the State Coordinators for the group in Calabar on Friday, Zonal Coordinator for the group in the South-South Zone, Comrade Godswill Mathew, urged youths in the Niger Delta region to support Atiku.
Mathew stated that it was time for the Niger Delta people to decide their own fate.
The group stressed that they were sure that if Atiku is given the mandate to lead, he would tackle poverty and boost the nation’s human capital development.
“We want to inform Nigerians especially those in the South South Zone that our leader, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is one of the finest Nigerians with the capacity to lead our dear country to achieve prosperity and economic freedom.
“As a Zonal cordinator for the support group, we have the mandate of the National to inaugurate state coordinators and their executives across the six states of the zone, an exercise that we are kick-starting today with the formal inauguration of the Cross River State Support Group for 2019.
“The state coordinators will be empowered to inaugurate the local governments and then the ward coordinators. This exercise will be replicated across the states in the zone,” Mathew said.

OVER 8,500 PDP MEMBERS DEFECTS TO APC

The National Leader of the political group, said the rally was a forum for local government executives of the group to defect to the national ruling party.
Over 8,500 members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have dumped the party for the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State.
According to a report by Vanguard, the members of the political party, who belonged to a former pro-PDP group called I see You,
defected to APC at a rally organised in Port Harcourt on Thursday, August 31, 2017.
Chizi Nyeomasila , the National Leader of the political group, said the rally was a forum for local government executives of the group to defect to the national ruling party.
Nyeomasila also added that the group will also organise rallies in the various local government areas for members at ward levels to defect and this will see a total of 108,000 of its members formally dumping PDP for APC.
In his words: “We had to leave PDP when we realised that APC had a better programme for the state
“PDP is a failure in the state. We were there but have now seen that APC will serve the common good of the state better. Like Paul in the Bible, we now see clearly .”
Chairman of Rivers APC, Dr Davies said, “We are set to dislodge PDP in the state at all levels. It has started. Now it is two to one at the senatorial level. APC has two senators, while PDP has one. So you can see that APC is set for victory in 2019.”
Present at the rally were Senator-elect, Rivers East senatorial district, Senator Andrew Uchendu ; Dr Seconte Davies, Executive Director Marine Operations, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and Rivers State Chairman of APC, Dr Davies Ikanya .
