Several sources in the state say Senator Abe’s aides has already held a meeting with aides of the Rivers state governor Mr. Nyesom Wike.

This has sparked rumours of the likely defection of the senator to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a rumour that has been going round for a while, although the Abe has consistently denied it.

Sources told us that meeting between the aides of both political figures lasted for about two hours in the campaign secretariat of Senator Abe somewhere around Ivo road in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital on Tuesday, May 15.

Before now, many chieftains in the APC have been complaining about Senator Abe’s desperation to destroy the party before decamping to the opposition.

Supporters of the senator had gone to court to obtain and injunction to stop the ongoing party congresses in the state.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja recently, Senator Abe recently asked President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the APC crisis in the state.

The president is yet to respond to the demands of the senator as at the time this report was published.

There are however fears that the president would not interfere in the crisis in the state due to the alleged anti-party activities of the senator.
