FORMER COUNCILLORS PROTEST AGAINST NON GRATUITY PAYMENT
The former councillors in Akwa Ibom State who served from 2012 to 2015 decry the non- payment of their salary over 3years, now. Mr .Peaceman Inyang from Nsit Ibom raised the alarm that most of the councillors are in penury and dead due to the delay, he added that the Government promises in the last two years was abortive . He also explained that Local Government is an arm of government.
Responding to the issue , the leader of the house Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan thanked them for the peaceful demonstration and urged them to be calm that their efforts and support would be immensely rewarded

He said the message would be channeled to the Governor for proper attention.

STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PASSES CRIMINAL JUSTICE INTO LAW


The Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly on Tuesday passed criminal justice and other related matters in the courts of Akwa ibom State into law. Hon. Aniefiok Denis member representing Etinan state constituency said the law commences effects from 23march 2017. Members of the house appreciated the bill stated that these will curtail and stop Illegal arrest and detentions of people in the state.Barr. Denis disclosed that a lot of advantage will be derive from the law.The law will ensure that only the culprit of a crime will be arrested and not his or her relations.

AISH GAVE HON. AKPANUMOH LAST RESPECT

Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly today gave last respect to Late Hon. Akpanumoh Akpanumoh member representing Eket constituency then,Cross River State in1983 at State house in Uyo.

Hon. Devis Udofa described him as his mentor a patriotic, hardworking,dedicated and good politician who consciously sacrificed himself to success,which flag him a winner in politics in 1986. An Elder Statesman who served him mentioned him to be one of the selected minority wing in former Cross River State. Mr. Akpanumoh was epoch_making,equity,God fearing and a philanthropist. The Speaker commensurate with the family and urged the children to emulate the good steps of their late father. Akpanumoh was laid to rest in Eket.

AKSH CONGRATULATES AKWA IBOM INDIGENES

The Akwa Ibom House member from Etinan state constituency Hon. Aniefiok Dennis congratulated Miss Ime Ime Umana as the first African President in Harvard University in USA and Mr. Stephen Udotong from Ikot Inyang in Oruk Anam who excel in the field of science, inventing a nuclear weapon.

Members of the house highly recommended that there is a need of creating technical schools as discussed in the early proceeding. 

Hon.Ituen added that Education is a positive weapon that drives away poverty and violence among other social ills.They also promised to appreciate them and the state at large.

STATE ASSEMBLY BANNED TRICYCLE

Akwa Ibom State house member Hon. Idongesit Ituen representing Itu constituency read a bill on Tuesday, 28th of March, on the uncongested road problems cause by tricycle in the state. He added that certain vehicles should be banned on the highway and road users should cultivate the spirit of road worthiness as well as establishment of more road transit which would create more employment to the people in the state. Speaking ,the member from Abak mentioned that some of the bad /damage vehicles (trucks) placed on the road should be removed to avoid accident.The speaker said the Law and task force transport management will look into it.

AKWA-IBOM ASSEMBLY RE–STRUCTURES HOUSE MEMBERS
Rt. Hon.Barr. Onofiok Luke effected movement of official changes and a standing order in the House today. It was signed by 17 out of 25 PDP lawmakers which demanded a change in the leadership of the assembly and committees. House member representing Ibiono ibom constituency Rt. Hon. Ime Okon takes over from Hon. Aniekan Bassey as the Deputy House leader , Hon. David Lawrence now takes over from Hon. Nse Essien as the new Deputy, Chief Whip. Hon. Aniekan Bassey now head of house committee on Science and technology while the member representing Mkpat Enin state constituency Hon. Otobong Ndem now member of the house service committee . The deputy leader and chairman House committee and information Hon. Ime Okon speak on the development as expedient and congratulated them.

MEMBERS RAISE MOTION OVER EROSION IN ABAK COMMUNITY.

The Akwa-Ibom State House of Assembly started its sitting at about 11am with Honourable Members of the house well-seated.The House member representing Abak state constituency, Hon. Iwok raised a motion on the ugly scene of erosion in Abak community. He said the gully erosion had collapsed two buildings and dilapidated part of the road which in no time would cause a great damage and fear in the community.He further stressed that it would result in commuters having to take a long road trip to the next village if this menace is neglected. He also commended the government on the construction of an amazing bridge in the area,without sparing cost.He then solicited for the support of the government and the attention of the Ministry of Works and Environment on the bad state of the roads in the area. Another Member from Okobo constituency moved a motion that the report made by Member Abak should be legally  honoured.  Hon.Speaker(Onofiok Luke) appreciated the Hon.member for bringing up the fact and promised that the issue of gully erosion in Abak/Uyo constituency, especially behind  St. Luke Hospital Anua would be addressed, along with other constituencies affected.
